Signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU can become a real prize for participants of this dialog. It has been reiterated about the advantages Ukraine will get, now let’s consider the benefits for the European Union.
Our country is not simply one of the largest states on the continent with the 45-million population. Thanks to its geographical location, Ukraine is the key element of the continental security system, a natural transport corridor and intersection of trade interests. In case of rapprochement with the EU, Ukraine will de facto become not only the eastern periphery for it, but will also promote the revival of economic relations.
I am sure that the leading producers of consumer goods already today are ready to fight for the Ukrainian consumer market. Its capacity is great, and even a low purchasing power of Ukrainians as of today won’t become an obstacle for the implementation of trade expansion into Ukraine. There is also a good news for agrarians: excellent Ukrainian soil (we have got 25% of the world black earth concentrated here) need the advanced agrarian technologies.
Ukrainian labor migrants, even getting to the EU countries illegally, have proved that they are hardworking people. Our country has got a serious intellectual potential, its labor force is not expensive in terms of the European measures, and our geographical position allows to allocate productions practically for all tastes. Ukraine has great chances to become a fully-fledged member of the European system of distribution of the manpower, in particular, many Ukrainian enterprises carry out orders for the leading European fashion brands already today.
If we talk politics, not only Constitution of Pylyp Orlyk and the “Orange” revolution are the Ukrainian achievements in terms of building democracy. After the Soviet Union disintegration no armed confrontation was present in Ukraine, all political conflicts were solved in a peaceful way, and not through conflict escalation. Probably, this is the reason why Ukraine remains the center of gravity of attention for Russian politicians who consider it to be a “temporarily lost territory”. No wonder, without control over Ukraine all Kremlin’s claims to the restoration of the world influence look scenical.
In spring 2014 elections to the European Parliament will take place. Signing of the Association Agreement with Ukraine, the beginning of its return to the European family can become an important argument for many European politicians, demonstration of efficiency of the concept of “the mutual house for Europeans”. Therefore, there are all bases to consider that Ukraine won’t sheer away from the European way.
